desculpa lá mas se é essa a tua "duvida", tens isso tudo na home page do site...

para posteriormente guardar na base de dados:

$(document).ready(function() {
 $('.edit').editable('http://www.example.com/save.php');
});

e vais fazer o select e update no tal ficheiro save.php (http://www.example.com/save.php)
