After eight months of development, the Ekaaty Linux team announces with pleasure the first release of Ekaaty Linux.

The Ekaaty project is a free, secure and user friendly operative system based on Linux. Ekaaty Project is aimed for use at desktops, providing a lightweight version of the system, with less cost of disc space and less use of the machine resources.

The Ekaaty project is a free, secure and user friendly operative system based on Linux. Ekaaty Project is aimed for use at desktops, providing a lightweight version of the system, with less cost of disc space and less use of the machine resources.

It is released under GPL, or General Public License, that intends it is under the category of Open Source Software (OSS), better known as FreeSoftware. In this way, the final users can be free to modify and redistribute the software with it source code and a license copy, giving to an international community of developers the oportunity to improve and inovate the operative system.

Ekaaty can be atractive to students, small companies and Linux entusiasts. It comes with KDE, the most complete and stable plataform for Unix desktops, and the BrOffice.Org Project, which is one of the most complete multiplatform office suites that is compatible with Microsoft Office and OpenDocument Document formats. It comes too with groupware suite Kontact, with antivirus and anti-spam filters.

É uma distribuição brasileira que nasceu há relativamente pouco tempo e que atingiu a versão 1.0 esta semana. Não sei se valerá ou não a pena dar uma vista de olhos, portanto espero pelas vossas opiniões. 😛

Hmm... só mesmo testando. Essa distro vem com KDE, não me parece muito lightweight como eles dizem. Eu tenho usado a Zenwalk e é um espectáculo. Daqui a uns dias vou começar a parte 2 das minhas aventuras no Gentoo!  😁
