Put 'Em Up, Mac Guy: Microsoft Gets Seinfeld

1 post in this topic

Will it be an advertising campaign about nothing?

Microsoft has hired comedian Jerry Seinfeld as part of a new $300 million campaign, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Seinfeld will received about $10 million for the work and appear in ads with Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates, according to the paper.

The campaign is part of Microsoft's strategy to liven up its image, which has taken some blows in recent years due in part to an advertising campaign from competitor Apple, which pokes fun at Microsoft by using a stodgy nerd to represent Microsoft's Windows operating system. His foibles are countered by a "Mac" guy, who always seems to come out on top.

The new ads are likely to debut on Sept. 4, according to the Journal, using some variation of the slogan "Windows, Not Walls."

Microsoft also considered a range of other famous personalities, including comedians Will Ferrell and Chris Rock, according to the Journal.

Devo dizer que resisti à piada fácil do "Bill Gates admite que o Windows é uma comédia"! ;)
